I wonder how this is considered to the division of church and state in the EU. Also seems like a great scam, since you can just start a church, claim thousands of members and get free income.

fyi - from sweden.
first an article from the swedish newspaper svenska dagbladet (via google translate).
jehovah's witnesses won against the government.

is bible prophecy now starting to come true regarding a prelude to the great tribulation?.
full disclosure: i still don't believe in the bible's claims about the existence of the supernatural, even of jehovah god (i'm an atheist and a scientific/philosophical naturalist), but i am asking this question because recent events are starting to seem (to me) to fit well the description of some prophecies in the bible.
consider the following.. several hours ago (on 11-26-2021) as i was about to enter a local fred meyer store of my city (in suburb or small city in the metro area of a large city) a person i know told me that a moment earlier a person left the store in a hurry with a cart load up with unpaid merchandise (i think i was told it was groceries but i don't remember that for sure).
These are just the pendulums of time. Every 120 years or so we see massive events that define generations. This comes with famine, pestilence, war, death and eventual salvation. We’re now entering an era defined by war after exiting a long period of relative peace and prosperity. Within 30 years this will all be over and there will be another 100 years of massive progress given capitalism survives in certain areas, but there will be areas similar to the Soviet Union, continuously repressed for another 70+ years and it is very likely that will be the EU and parts of the US.
The problem is that the majority of people is never going to be happy with everything. It’s just human nature. But this also makes every prophecy without a specific date come true eventually and repeatedly.
question of the dayeach man chosen of the twelve jesus selected had been called disciples, or "students" (meaning "one who learns").
(latin discipulus; greek μαθητής mathētḗs; hebrew לִמּוּד limmûdh;jesus is stated in the bible to have sent out the twelve using a new description: apostles, "whom he also named apostles" (luke 6:13), first before his death "to the lost sheep of israel" (matthew 10), and after his (resurrection to spread the message of the good news to all nations (matthew 28:16-28:20).with the above firmly in mind, the question arises: “why aren’t the governing body called apostles?”.
The way the JW’s used to explain it is that Apostles were only the disciples of Jesus that had originally been with Jesus when he was alive. Their explanation is that until they started the JW organization after Jesus death, all other disciples stopped following Jesus when he was arrested.
Thus nobody today can call themselves apostles (typically this is used as an indication against the catholic and orthodox churches that say bishops and popes are the direct successors of the apostels).
I do know this ignores plenty of key scriptures that the Catholic and Orthodox Church uses, but I guess that’s just par for the course.
i need a question answered.
i know of a situation where a single sister took in a single brother as a renter, so she could be his caregiver, as he was very along in years.. long story short, they were forced to get married.
i believe it was labeled under "appearance of evil" by the elders.. my question is: what do the elders base this on?
There are plenty of publications that say that if you stay overnight with a member of the opposite sex, you probably have committed fornication, with very few exceptions.
Hope she gets his money though :)
catholic church killed off alot of christian books from the "offical" bible collection.
so why let thru the weird book of revelation?
have you read the watchtowers explanation it's a joke rutherford's conventions play a huge part..
Because Revelation was the least weird one, read some of the other available books and you’ll soon find a ton of reasons why those books were left out of the canon they wanted to create.
That being said, Revelation falls in the same set as Daniel and other apocalyptic writings in the Bible, it’s basically a set of writings about the political situation of those days, back then would’ve been easily understood but the details have since largely been lost.
just found this article and am wondering if there has been new light on this issue.
the watchtower magazine of may 15, 1984:.
could a christian accept a bone-marrow transplant, since blood is made in the marrow?.
Interesting how they tacitly admit that the writer of the Bible (supposedly god himself) didn’t know that blood cells originate from the marrow and thus had no scientifically consistent restriction on eating blood or its components. Thus to be biblically consistent they have to be inconsistent.
i was listening to the co talk to my wife’s congregation on sunday and pretty much the complete talk was justifying doctrinal and organizational changes and pretty much preparing the ‘rank and file’ for upcoming changes.
anyone on hear have any insight of what ‘new light’ is coming in the future?.
@gardenia: so basically leaving the JW = unforgivable sin. That’s nothing new, they’ve been saying that for years based on other scriptures.
so i have not been to a kh for 26 years.
if i wanted to dissociate what would be the procedure and is there any gain in doing it so long after i left?.
Depends on your jurisdiction, in many cases they keep a record around until the legal limits tell them it needs destroyed or in some jurisdictions it may have to be destroyed on demand. Whether or not they follow the legal limits is another thing altogether, the branch may remind them but it often gets forgotten about.
these interviews are popping up all over the country on local news stations.
you can tell that the interviewer is given questions and comments in advance.. https://youtu.be/hdmstvhhavo.
This isn’t new, you’ll see this from time to time, you pay a broadcaster like Sinclair or iHeartMedia and they will give a scripted interview.
Businesses and politicians will both do this from time to time.
so alec baldwin shot a woman dead on set and seriously injured another man.. what do we put this down as?
a tragic accident?
maybe ... except that implies no one was to blame.. the more you find out, the more it seems that this was due to negligence and lack of attention to safety.
@road: real ammo is not forbidden on set, often it is necessary to shoot real bullets for closeups or else the result does not look realistic. It is forbidden in certain situations (eg if you’ll shoot at a person or inside a building)
Prop gun, basically means “property of the theater” gun, it’s for all intents and purposes a real gun. Baldwin cheaper out and spent 8000 on the armorer, 5000 on the ammo and a few thousand on the guns while paying himself $250k and a chunk from the profits, which was planned to make him another $650k. So he was going to make nearly a million dollars and cheaped out on everyone else.
For a Western, that is a very low budget for armorer and gun safety. Given ammo is very expensive these days, you’re on a very tight budget, having custom ammo made is very expensive, just the smoke stuff costs >$1/blank in 9mm, for a “western” revolver we’re talking probably .36 or any of the Colt caliber black powder which is >$3/blank or even more if it’s a revolver with a caliber that is no longer in common production.
So you do a few takes with the classic shootout scenes, shoot a few hundred bullets every take, you’ve just gone through your entire budget, so closeups may use a cheaper “real” bullet available on the open market for cost reasons. You can create realism with black powder, some chemicals to make the flash and a small object, but it’s still dangerous (Brandon Lee got killed by one of these) and even more expensive ($15/bullet is not unheard of).
